What is BMI?
Body Mass Index is weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It is a quick screening number, not a diagnosis.
Standard adult BMI categories (WHO)
- Below 18.5 โ Underweight
- 18.5โ24.9 โ Normal weight
- 25โ29.9 โ Overweight
- 30 and above โ Obese
BMI doesn't distinguish muscle from fat and isn't intended for children, pregnant women or athletes. Talk to a doctor for health advice.
